Biography
Joseph Anthony is undeniably unique. His obvious New York accent and Italian-American background will fool you, because he is NOT just another Italian Comic! This true-to-life storyteller turns his hardships, and those of everyday people, into brilliantly hysterical humor. He has been called, “a modern-day Lenny Bruce!”
Joseph studied writing style and screen writing at the New School for Social Research, in New York City. He learned the basics of filmmaking at the College of Staten Island, NY. He studied the Meisner technique of acting under Joanna Beckson (Ray Romano’s teacher), herself a student of the famed Actors Studio.
In January of 1990, he stepped onstage at PIPS Comedy Club in Brooklyn, New York. He immediately found the avenue for all three of his artistic passions – writing, acting and stand up comedy. Today, Joseph is a frequently requested performer/headliner at the most well known comedy clubs and countless venues in the Northeast and around the country.
